Berrys Chapel was built during the early 1800’s by a hidden community of African American slaves, and was allegedly used as a stop on the underground railroad due to it’s remote location in the woods. According to legend, the church was burned down by a group of Ku Klux Klan members, and the entire congregation was killed. Although the chapel foundation and cemetery still remain, many graves were vandalized or dug up, and many claim that the site was once used as a gathering place by a satanic cult. Investigators at Berrys chapel report hearing a variety of disembodied sounds, such as voices, footsteps, and the sounds of people singing or praying.
